Quartex S 1.5GM
Quartex S 1.5GM
Ceftriaxone 1000mg + Sulbactum 500mg Injection
Indication
Ceftriaxone + Sulbactam is a combination medication widely used in the treatment of various bacterial infections. Ceftriaxone, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic, is effective against a broad spectrum of bacteria. Its primary mechanism of action involves inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall. By binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), ceftriaxone disrupts the construction of the peptidoglycan layer, an essential component of the bacterial protective covering. This inhibition results in the weakening and eventual rupture of the bacterial cell wall, leading to the death of the bacteria.
However, some bacteria produce enzymes called beta-lactamases that can break down antibiotics like ceftriaxone, rendering them ineffective. This is where sulbactam plays a crucial role. Sulbactam is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that binds to and inactivates these enzymes, thereby preventing the degradation of ceftriaxone. By inhibiting beta-lactamases, sulbactam enhances the efficacy of ceftriaxone, allowing it to combat beta-lactamase- producing bacteria more effectively.
The combination of ceftriaxone 1000mg + sulbactam 500mg, known as Quartex S 1.5gm injection, broadens the antibiotic spectrum and boosts the overall effectiveness against resistant bacterial strains. This makes it particularly useful in treating a variety of infections, including those of the respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin and soft tissues, and intra-abdominal infections. The synergistic action of ceftriaxone and sulbactam ensures a more comprehensive approach to bacterial eradication, especially in environments where antibiotic resistance is a significant concern.
In clinical practice, the combination of ceftriaxone 1gm and sulbactam 500mg injection is valued for its enhanced antibacterial efficacy and ability to counter certain resistant strains. This formulation serves as a reliable treatment option for various bacterial infections. Quartex S 1.5gm injection, including specific variants like Quartex S 1000mg/500mg, is widely used to address diverse clinical requirements and support effective infection management.
